It's been a couple days since we had to say goodbye to Tyler. That was terrible. Josh started acting out when he saw Tyler packing on Saturday night- then on Sunday he REFUSED to go to nursery, so he was in Sunday school with us, then we just decided to go home early. Sunday night, he just wouldn't go to bed. he just wanted to be with Tyler. He just followed him around all night. In hopes that any of us would get any sleep, at 11:30pm we gave in and let Josh sleep up in our room with us.
Throughout the night, I kept waking up- each time I did, Tyler was still awake, laying on his side- propping his head up with his hand. Just looking at me and Josh. He didn't sleep at all.
Monday morning, Josh didn't want to get in the car. He didn't even want to push the garage door button. He cried the whole time I was buckling him in his car seat.
Once we got the the airport, we were all crying. Since it was only 5am, it was still dark outside, and there was a dusting of snow falling. Tyler and I stood outside for a while, just hugging and shivering in the cold. After a couple minutes of us saying our goodbyes, he went over to Joshua's car door and opened it to give him a hug and kiss. It was the saddest thing I've ever seen. So much worse than last time, because Josh knows what's going on.
When Josh and I got back home, he started crying and pushing my hands away when I was trying to unbuckle him. This time, he didn't want to get OUT of the car. I finally got him inside and we just hugged and cried for a while. We eventually fell asleep on the couch for a few hours together.
Since then, things have been slowly getting back to 'normal'. Josh is so good about giving me much-needed hugs throughout the day. He's a big helper with laundry and dishes (or...making MORE work for me!) ;) I don't mind though- He loves to help his Mommy. He keeps asking for Daddy- but I make sure whenever he does, I get down on his level and explain that Daddy had to go to work, then we go look at the pictures of Tyler that are on Joshua's wall. Joshy's so sweet, he goes up to the pictures and kisses them. He really loves his Daddy.
Tyler called yesterday afternoon- it was about 2:30pm for me, and he said that he had just arrived in Kuwait and it was 11:30pm for him. He also told me that he wouldn't be getting back to Mosul until Noon today, so he's there by now for sure.
I can't wait for him to get home.
In hopes for some type of distraction from loneliness, Joshua and I booked a trip to Arkansas to stay with my parents for a while. We leave on the 18th and probably won't be back home until the end of May. While I'm there, I'll have my laptop and cell phone- so you can bet that I'll still be updating this thing with Joshua's hysterical videos and adorable pictures. It should make time go a bit faster.
That's it for me, I hope you're all doing well.
Kelly.
